Ave Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

In short

  • You don't need an account to use the app.
  • Your intentions, preferences and followed parishes stay on your phone.
  • Your location is only used to find nearby churches, rounded to about 100 meters, and it is not stored.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking and no selling of data.

Who we are

Ave is an app by Reefstacks, a software studio in San Andrés, Islas (Colombia), responsible for the data of the app and the parish panel. For any privacy question, write to hola@reefstacks.app.

What stays only on your phone

Your preferences (language, voice, speed, reminders), your prayer intentions and their progress, and the list of parishes you follow are stored only on your phone. We do not send them to any server.

The examination of conscience in the confession guide is not stored anywhere: what you check is erased when you close the screen.

Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself. Prayer voices are downloaded from our storage and saved on the phone so you can pray offline; that download contains no data about you.

Location

Only when you open “Churches nearby” and grant permission, the app uses your location to find the closest churches. It sends our server a rounded position (about 100 meters), only to run that search. It does not use your location in the background.

We do not store your location or link it to you. As with any web service, our infrastructure provider may keep temporary technical request logs to keep the service running and secure.

Data sent to our server

An anonymous identifier created by the app (not your number, email or device identifier). It is used to follow parishes and to limit repeated reports.

If you follow a parish, we store that identifier, the app language and, when the app allows it, a notification token to send you that parish's announcements. They are deleted when you unfollow.

If you report a schedule problem, we store the report type, the optional text you write and the anonymous identifier. The parish administrators see the report, but not who sent it.

Parish panel

People who manage a parish create an account with their name, email and password. The password is stored with a one-way hash; nobody can read it.

To request management of a parish we also ask for the role, a contact phone and an optional note, used only to verify the request.

The schedules, announcements, details and photos a parish publishes are public: everyone using Ave can see them.

Third-party services

Cloudflare hosts our server, database and files. Expo (Expo Application Services) delivers notifications from the parishes you follow.

Some buttons open external services with their own policies: Google Maps (“Directions”), Vatican News (Mass readings) and your phone's dialer.

Church locations come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors). The voices were recorded with ElevenLabs; we send none of your data to that service.

Children

Ave is suitable for the whole family. The app asks for no account or personal data. The parish panel is intended for adults.

Your rights

Under Colombian Law 1581 of 2012 you may access, update, correct and request deletion of your data, and withdraw any consent you have given.

Data on your phone is deleted when you uninstall the app. For any request about data on our server, including deleting a panel account, write to hola@reefstacks.app. We will reply within the legal deadlines.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and its date.
